Where Do You Live?

In our relationships, I think we can agree, a certain amount of friendly input and communication is very high on the list of “must-do,” in keeping that relationship fresh.

If I started my day without a simple good morning followed by no conversation in the first hour of my day, with my loved ones,-at least one of them would ask, “What’s wrong?” Imagine allowing the details of your life to extend that behavior into days and then weeks. There’s a certain aloofness, awkwardness, and even coolness of our emotions that begins to form. This is a false action of “self-protection,” to keep away the guilt.

When did I allow “details” to become more important than those I love?

It is the same in our relationship with Jesus. It has happened to me. Does God understand? Doesn’t He see the pressing details I must deal with, in my life? Yes, He does. Isn’t there grace for it? Yes, there is. But do not misapply His Grace, It is not there to excuse us. Grace is there to find help in times of need. Hebrews 4:16 “Let us come boldly to the Throne of Grace, to help in time of need.” Grace is not there to excuse us from God’s presence.

Does that sound too harsh?

Having my heart grow cold: that is what is harsh! God doesn’t turn away from us He waits patiently for us to turn back towards Him. How difficult my “important details,” became as I allowed them to take center stage and Christ merely became the audience. I am passionate about this because I was miserable during that time and the lesson, I learned was how Precious my relationship with Christ is.

As a Born-again Believer, I will always belong to Jesus, and my position is secure. But my experience will always reflect where I am living in my heart and mind. Are we living at the throne of Grace, or the feet of our details and circumstances? Only Jesus imparts life to us never the details. In Deuteronomy 30:19, He sets before us life and death and admonishes us to choose life and live! It is our choice to live in our details and circumstances or at The Throne of Grace. Let our position in Christ be our experience by guarding our hearts and choosing Christ first, in all things.

Be Blessed!
