This website was created primarily to have a venue for my music. Of the many times I applied to an established online publisher, many wanted to get a link to my “then, nonexistent website”. So, Corner Café with Carolann Grace was born. And it quickly grew arms and legs; so to speak. As you can see the menu holds pages for my art, some writings, a nice little resource page and this blog. I’m so glad to have this page so I can communicate with you, things on my heart. I’m hoping you’ll respond and join in with any question or comments you have.
Today I am thinking of the powerful connection music and song have with communication. Since the very beginning, man has found the way to verbally express himself to others. For some, such as babies, their communication is basically crying or gurgling, most times, not understandable. Yet, this form of communication will almost always get a response. As we grow up, we usually expand our vocabulary, but our communication skills often fall by the wayside. All too often our communication is driven by our emotions. That a whole subject and for another time.God has given us this great gift. He is The Great Communicator. in all varieties of communication.
The act of singing has been around since we could talk. In the Bible we can find references to singing and music, well over 400 times. In Genesis 4:21, Jubal is regarded as being the inventor of and the forefather of music. In 2nd Chronicles 20:21, King Jehoshaphat sent out the musicians and singers – singing praises and thanks to God before his army as they marched into battle. It is recorded that the king and his army won the battle. In 1 Samuel 16:23, when David was just a shepherd boy, King Saul would have him play the harp to sooth and take away his fits of pain. Since its beginning, singing and music was a vital part of life. It is still true in our time. We have the added benefit of many new ways to express our songs, throughout all the world, in so many ways.
